Use dynamic blocks for information that changes when a snippet is used. For example, a meeting note can include today’s date, clipboard text, and a cursor position ready for your own notes.

Insert the current date or time

Choose Insert → Date & Time. Select the format you need: Date, Date and time, Time, or Long date. Choose the current system time zone, UTC, or a named time zone such as Africa/Lagos.

Read the example in the editor, then use Preview to inspect it within the full snippet. The saved block describes a date value; it does not freeze the editor’s example as literal text.

Include clipboard text

Copy the text you want to include, then use a snippet containing Insert → Clipboard Text. Tapiri takes a clipboard snapshot for that use. Place Text blocks before and after the clipboard block if you want a heading or quotation marks.

Inspect the assembled result before inserting it, especially when the clipboard may contain something unrelated. A clipboard block inserts text; it is not a way to embed an arbitrary copied file. If the clipboard has no text, Tapiri asks you to copy some and use the template again.

Place the cursor inside the result

Choose Insert → Cursor Position at the point where you want to continue typing. Move the block into place using its arrows. A snippet can have one cursor position.

Cursor placement depends on the destination’s support. Manually copying and pasting the text does not preserve the same cursor-placement behavior. Test direct insertion in your intended writing field.

Calculate a number from field answers

Create Text fields for Quantity and Unit price, then choose Insert → Calculation.

  1. Set Calculate to Number.
  2. Use Add Field to add Quantity.
  3. Use Add Operator to add multiplication.
  4. Use Add Field to add Unit price.
  5. Set Decimal places to 2.
  6. Preview with Quantity 3 and Unit price 12.50. The result should be 37.50.

The formula builder also offers Add Number for constants and arrows or Remove controls for each formula item. Multiplication and division happen before addition and subtraction; parentheses change the order.

Enter numbers with a decimal point, without currency symbols or commas. Put currency labels in a surrounding Text block. Checkbox fields are not numeric inputs. Correct missing fields, invalid numbers, or division by zero before completing the form.

Calculate a future date

Add another Calculation block and choose Date plus days. Keep Starting date as Today, captured when used, or choose a field containing a date in yyyy-MM-dd format.

Under Days to add, build a whole-number expression such as 7. Positive values move forward; negative values move backward. Select a Date format and choose the system time zone or enter a named time zone.

Preview before saving. Use calendar-day offsets for dates such as a follow-up reminder; the control does not offer a business-day or holiday calendar.
